Through all of the destruction and heartache that has gone along with a flood of the magnitude of the flood of '08, there is also some beauty that popped up on the river side of Ellis Boulevard.  Someone apparently left a bag of bird feed (sunflowers) in their garage or on the patio that was left over from winter.   When the flood waters came, the bag of seed was spread over the neighborhood with great abandon and the result is a plethora of sunflowers everywhere on that side of Ellis.  God is truly in charge and is the Master Gardener who has planted a bit of beauty to remind us to look for goodness and mercy even in the worst of situations.  He is with us always.

FLOOD GUEST COMMENTS WRITTEN ON TO OUR BUNK BEDS

The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.                                         Matthew 7:25

I have found love here.

Why b’less when you can b’more!

Chose hymn 525 if you stay for Sunday church. It is a PDA tradititon at this church.

What an honor to have worked with such amazing people. Thank you so much.

Enjoyed working with John the Baker (Sykora’s bakery). Looking forward to tasting some of his goods when he reopens.

Thank you very much Christ Church Presbyterian. Your generosity, hospitality have been an inspiration to ourselves and to Cedar Rapids.

Whether you eat or drink, or muck, or drywall, or pull up floors, do it all for the glory of our awesome God. Paraphrase of Corinthians I 10:31.

To Christ Church. Your generosity and hospitality is a picture of Jesus loving His world. Keep it up! May His strength fill you as you continue this work.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and Courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

What a blessing you are to your community Christ Church!! And a great model of hospitality. Christs hands in action. Thank you so much for your welcome to us. May God bless you richly.

Our prayers are with you this day. This is a day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

God has used this church in a mighty way. You will have many stars in your individual crowns. Thanks for the blessed opportunity to help and the great hotel accommodations!

Prayers from Livonia to owners and Sharon United Methodist tool closet. Matthew chpt 7 vs 75 “The rain cam down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:28-31
